Setting up forwarding
PINGO notifies you about mail that reaches your PINGO address, so the one step that makes everything work is telling your existing inbox to send a copy there. It takes a couple of minutes, you only do it once, and nothing about your normal inbox changes.
Always choose forward a copy rather than redirect or move. A copy keeps mail arriving in your real inbox exactly as before; a redirect sends it away instead, which is not what you want.
Gmail
- 1Open Gmail, click the gear icon, then "See all settings".
- 2Go to the "Forwarding and POP/IMAP" tab and click "Add a forwarding address".
- 3Paste your PINGO address, then click Next, Proceed, and OK.
- 4Gmail sends a one-time confirmation to that address. It'll show up as a PINGO notification, tap it to confirm.
- 5Back in Gmail, choose "Forward a copy of incoming mail" and keep Gmail's own copy in your inbox too, so nothing else changes.
Outlook
- 1Open Outlook on the web, go to Settings, then Mail, then Forwarding.
- 2Turn on forwarding and paste your PINGO address.
- 3Keep "Keep a copy of forwarded messages" checked so your inbox behaves exactly as before.
- 4Save. Work or school accounts on Microsoft 365 may need an admin to allow external forwarding first.
Other
- 1Look for "Forwarding", "Filters", or "Email Forwarders" in your provider's settings, this usually lives under cPanel, Zoho Mail, or your web host's control panel.
- 2Add your PINGO address as the forwarding destination.
- 3Some providers send a one-time confirmation first. If so, check your next PINGO notification and tap it to confirm.
- 4Choose "forward a copy", not "redirect" or "move", so mail still lands in your normal inbox too.
Adding an inbox link
This part is optional and separate from forwarding. Saving your webmail address means tapping a PINGO notification opens the inbox the mail actually arrived in, instead of opening PINGO first and asking you.
- The web address is wherever you normally read that mail - mail.google.com for Gmail, or your host's webmail page.
- The label is just for you, so you can tell two inboxes apart at a glance.
- The domain is the part after the @ in your real email address. Fill it in and PINGO can tell which inbox a given email belongs to; leave it blank and you'll be asked each time.
The domain only matters once you have more than one inbox saved. With a single inbox, every notification opens it regardless.
If notifications never arrive
- Most providers send a one-time confirmation before forwarding starts. It arrives as your first PINGO notification - tap it to finish, or forwarding stays switched off.
- On iPhone and iPad, notifications only work once PINGO is added to the Home Screen. Open it from there rather than from Safari.
- Work or school Microsoft 365 accounts often block external forwarding until an administrator allows it.
